What is 3D scanning used for?
- Reverse engineering: rebuilding the 3D model of a part whose drawing has been lost.
- Dimensional inspection: comparing a manufactured part with its model.
- Adaptation: designing a part that fits an existing object (bracket, fairing, tooling).
- Reproduction: remanufacturing an obsolete part in 3D printing or composite.
From scan to part
- Digitising the part.
- Cleaning up and rebuilding the 3D model.
- Optional modification: correction, reinforcement, adaptation.
- Manufacture in PPA-CF 3D printing or carbon composite.
Applications
Golf (head shapes, grip ergonomics), aerospace (old or one-off parts) and precision engineering (component inspection).
Have a part to digitise? Contact me with a few photos and its main dimensions and I will tell you what is feasible.
